5. Nigel Martyn (England) – 138
Another English goalkeeper in the list. Nigel Martyn began his Premier league trek with Crystal Palace in 1989. He was signed from Bristol Rovers for a fee of one million pounds, thus making him the first one million pound goalkeeper in British football.
He made 272 league appearances for Crystal Palace and was signed by Leeds United in 1996, where he enjoyed the best part of his career keeping 82 clean sheets. In 2003, he joined Everton for a spell of three years.
David Moyes was the Everton manager when they signed Nigel Martyn. Even though he only made 82 appearances for the club, he kept 31 clean sheets and helped Everton in finishing fourth in the 2014-15 season. Moyes later mentioned Martyn as his “best signing”.
