The former Manchester United captain is regarded as one of the greatest goalkeepers of all time and was voted as the best living goalkeeper in a poll conducted by Reuters, in 2001. The Dane’s Premier League career started in 1991 when he joined Manchester United from Brondby FC.
Over the span of eight years in Manchester United, he made 290 league appearances keeping 113 clean sheets. He also enjoyed brief spells of one year, at Aston Villa and Manchester City and kept the opponents from scoring in 16 more times before he retiring in 2003.
He will be always remembered as a Manchester United legend. He captained the United side in 1999 UEFA Champions League triumph which completed the famous treble.
