Kamamoto is regarded as one of the greatest Japanese footballer of all-time. Leading his side to the bronze medal in the 1968 summer Olympics in Mexico, Kamamoto finished the tournament as the top scorer. Averaging almost a goal per game, Kamamoto was an inspirational figure and an idol to many youngsters playing football. Upon retirement, Kamamoto took up some coaching jobs in his country and then was a member of the house of Councilors.
