6. Edin Dzeko (Wolfsburg to Manchester City)- £27 million
Having started his career as a midfielder, he was shifted to the role of a striker and earned a transfer to the Wolfsburg side. He dominated the Bundesliga with his ruthless finishing and tore the Bundesliga defense into pieces on his way to earning his club an unlikely Bundesliga crown in the 2008-09 season. Dzeko drew the attention of many big clubs including both halves of Manchester. Manchester City managed to sign the Bosnian striker for a hefty price tag. He was City’s secong biggest signing at the time after they spilled the cash on brazilian Robinho. Dzeko repayed the Citizens with some very crucial goals en route to their title, but was never the same Dzeko that the world saw with Wolfsburg. The Bosnian is currently with Serie A side AS Roma.
