4. Stade de France (France) – 81,338
The Stade de France is the national stadium of France and has a holding capacity of 81,338. The construction of the stadium started in 1995, and was opened on 28th January 1998, prior to the 1998 FIFA World Cup. Michel Platini suggested the name of this stadium. This is the world’s largest modular stadium, with three galleries.
The stadium has hosted numerous important football matches including two UEFA Champions League finals (2000 and 2006). Stade de France is the only stadium in the world to host a FIFA World Cup final and Rugby World Cup final. Nine matches of the 1998 World Cup were held on this stadium, including the final, which France won.
The Stade de France will also hoist the Euro Cup next year.
